Don't Expect Any if You Don't Respect It

A couplet poem about money.

Money is kind of funny;

it can even bring you agony.

Mammon can be compared to a hammer;

just avoid its influence, don't become a swindler.

We make a living by what we get;

so let us never, ever get upset.

We make a life by what we give;

let us never, ever become irresponsive.

If you love money, you'll never be happy;

truth be told, sounds like mere irony.

Strive for humility, you'll never experience shipwreck;

beware of that exciting and good-looking pinchbeck.

Don't expect money if you don't respect money;

hope you don't consider that as a cacophony.

Why should we worry about making ends meet;

follow the narrow path, you'll never overheat.

Yes, we must pay the bills;

first acquire the necessary skills.

That epidemic, those crushed in debt;

they didn't avoid the deceptive dragnet.
