Screen Zombie

A couplet poem about all those modern electronic devices.

Please watch where you walk;

I'm really afraid when you talk.

Do you need to stare at that screen;

my gosh, kindly break that routine.

A zombie you are, to me that's fair;

always texting, you lack decent flair.

In the mall, folks browse in leisure;

let's all relax, with complete composure.

Your language is a disgrace;

more accurately, just plain base.

If you'd like respect, earn it;

otherwise your world will remain unlit.

Now you're leaving the mall;

eyes on that screen, your pitfall.

music blasting, you backed into that car;

that text couldn't wait, look at your scar.

I don't want to hear your smut;

equally important, no scuttlebut.

texting and driving is a no-no;

do you want to cause a deathblow?

Please watch where you walk;

also refrain from your talk.

If ya don't like me to squawk;

respect your elders, a profitable outlook.

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
