Memories of a traveling carnival.
I grew up whre a carnival Would come to town each year Our hearts would pound With the convoy's sound As the Carnies would appear They'd set to work and in one day The tents and rides we saw First the parade Then quickly we made Our way to the Mardi Gras We'd ride the rides and eat the food The side shows we'd take in The Barker's call We would throw the ball And big prizes hope to win A few short days of fun and games The tents and rides came down Then off they'd go To do their next show In some far away new town

Love your rhyme sequence, very good and unique.
I used to love the carnival
also, when it came to town.

Haven't been to one in many years but still have memories of the fun and games and the Barkers. They got your attention but the best was inside, waiting.

Jane, I loved this peep into the the travelling carnival world. You caught the fleeting atmosphere of fun and happiness and anticipation of this yearly event...then all too soon.. it is gone. We experience this in Hull, Yorkshire, UK with our yearly HULL FAIR which lasts a week...It is so much part of our culture here now. It is Europe's biggest travelling Fair, and has been coming here for hundreds of years, and such fun!Rides, side stalls, food, etc. etc...Each year we rev up for the atmosphere...These events are important landmarks in our Year, and to be remembered all our lives...
