Whispering

Above all, protect the children.

Poem Artwork

Children just love Halloween
It's full of sweets and gore
Their costumes hide their faces as
They might come back for more

Witch with pointy chin walked by
Casper the Ghost did too
A princess with a magic wand
Two robots painted blue

(..... whispering about the scream
Heard from the Marsh below
A woman with two puncture wounds
From what they do not know)

"Trick or Treat" is over now
The children safe in bed
A silver bullet fashioned by
The village men in dread

Morning comes a new day dawns
Some men are very tired
An issue taken care of now
The silver bullet fired

Children check their candy out
They had a gleeful night
One child spoke of a tall dark man
Who vanished out of sight

Clever, Jane. The fake spooks and the real. Isn't that what childhood is partly about, being able to sense which is which.

Oh boy, in my opinion this has to be the very best Halloween poem I have ever read. It was the stranger and the bullet that did it for me, but then that is the reason you wrote it in. I love this!
