Sea Thoughts

I sit on the shore
writing sea-thoughts in the sand
with a bird-feather quill.

The knife-sharp blue sky
sings little songs
of clouds and bird-cries.

And wonder, long asleep,
begins to open the doors
of my shut-tight soul.

Names, faces, dreams, and loves
rise gently in the breeze of memory
and become words on the sand.

And the curious waves rush in
and carry them away
for the mermaids and drowned sailors to read.

And then the sea and I forget,
because we do not choose
to remember.

Is this the box where I get to breath again? Dorien, this was perfect poetry.
I know you must have whispered these words, for I heard them on the morning horizon.
Excellent work. Lisa

Powerful. Interesting choice for a pen name. Could it be the artistic reflection of Dorian Gray, or Oscar Wilde-or maybe both, if there is even a difference.

Superb poem, vibrant images too good to let wash away;-)
We never know how wonderful memories are until we don't
have them.

These Black and Blue Red Zone Days by Aberjhani

Just as life during the pandemic was color-coded with different hues representing different levels of danger, life in its aftermath has become shaded in similar ways. As a self-styled “Seeker of Beauty with Beauty,” (borrowing from a quote by W.E.B.
