So You Plan to Marry a Man

So you plan to marry a man--

A noble thing to do.

But be sure that you learn all you can

Of help there is for you.

The Bible has a lot to say

About this life you'll choose.

Be sure you're ready for that day

As single life you'll lose.

Humble yourself to God until

You have learned of His plan.

As you submit all of your will

God's way you'll understand.

If you have a spirit that's king

God has blessings in store.

For former ways you'll stop but find

You'll learn there's so much more.

when you and your man are married

God sees you both as one.

It's hoped self-will you have buried

In your preparation.

Start now to trust in your man's care

So you'll become a team.

May you remember God is there

And on Him you can lean.

Take good counsel and accept correction--

that's the way to live wisely and well.

Father, I trust that I will listen to good advice.

Amen.

Marriage is not 50-50.

It is 100-100.

That way, the marriage always wins.

And when the marriage wins,

both spouses win.
