I wrote this after trudging to the car one HOT August day.

Swimming down the sidewalk,
Oppressive, Thick, Dank, Searing --
I make my way towards the car,
Sunburn, Heatstroke or Fainting fearing.

Buildings and roadways lit up bright,
Dazzling reflections blind my eyes --
Almost wish it was already night,
Darkened sky would seem a prize.

Grass and flowers wilted to wisps,
Ground cracked and hard as concrete,
Oh for a good cooling mist,
Thorough rain would make life complete.

Air like hot soup,
Lungs laboring to Breathe;
I struggle into my coupe;
Crank the A/C, and sigh with relief!
