Books to burn

An angel came holding a book in flames

From the ash I could read a thousand names

Near the end I found black rain

Come hear the wind of minds gone cold

As day travels from sun to moon

Run fast as wind and travel near

Awe cry comes undone almost fear

A palace upon hill castle fades to dreg

As angel swings touch pelage of seed

Final words read pay for the deed

Come and view the words left upon

A pile to burn in payment made

Watch the spirit fly into lamp light shade

So much left to learn, burn, to clean and purify

A tribute to the vision done

I read and I feel, I die

Black to white

Ribbons fall

Scatter prism bleed

Sealed in wax and greed

A rasp of breath left cold upon a pyre

Ire of a magistrate

Leads to the burn

And fire of fate

No magic welding truth

Will ever fade

Book was printed

The price now must be paid

I saw an eagle leave its nest on high

I heard the clouds and wind carry its

Sad cry

Fail to erase the past

Just burn the image fair

Man moves and the printed word

Evaporates into thin air
