Red Moon Calling

by Myra Wexler Darwish — Read all 62 poems by Myra Wexler Darwish

Red Moon Calling was inspired by my viewing of the Lunar eclipse of April 15, 2014. It's beauty needed to be honored.

©Red Moon Calling

I awoke suddenly, summoned by

An ancient voice that I could not resist,

Calling me to see the changing Moon,

 In the early nighttime’s mist.

Try as I may to stay in my bed,

 I had only to arise.

A window framed my perfect view,

Of the beauty before my eyes.

Something deep within me,

Intuitively knew,

That the changes I was seeing,

Reflected my life’s review.

As the colors changed profoundly,

From white, to pink, to rose.

A thought stirred within me,

I have been all of those.

The hues of my own lifetime,

Became more fully clear.

And I realized with a wiser heart,

That infinitude was near.

Beautifully written and creative. Casting your lifetime in the phases of a blood moon. Bravo!

There was a time when I never missed such an opportunity and never seemed to have to give myself any reminders to be there on time, usually 15 minutes early. Now, I find that if I do not put something on my calendar and have my computer alert me, I will completely forget even the simplest of things that I should keep in my daily mind. To see the blood moon, I would necessarily have had to set my alarm clock because, even though I wake up several times a night, I can't predict the time I will wake up. What often happens is that I wake up to the conclusion that I've missed something important two or three days after it occurred. Now that's disconcerting.

A beautiful reflective piece...I love the way you see the changing colours of the moon as mirroring your life changes...
How wonderful to have witnessed this phenomena...not visible here in UK...
