From This Day Forward

New beginnings light our path
As we make promises to our heart
Never to falter again unwittingly
This day is not unusual
The birds fly in the same sky
While souls are buried in their graves
Sometimes within milestones
Of places they wanted to be
When they parted
From this day forward
We tell ourselves
No more white lies
Shall sit between us
Grappling strengths from our minds
We piece together visions
Never to look back
At past regressions
My peace has found me now
Lying within soiled pastures
I am ready to harness my life
With my new bridle
As the stampede tries
To get to the gate before me
