How did Tom get the name
of our prizewinning entree'?
On the day we give thanks
to the Lord up above
Should we call it Betty-
or Lucy, or Jimmy?

It seems all so silly...
To give such a name...
To a bird that we carve!

Poor Tom gives his life
at a sacrifice dinner
He knows not his fate
from the chefs with their knives

Oh, how did it happen-
He was picked as the winner!
When all other names-
Seem to suit the bird fine...
