Seasons’ Rain

I was the Spring, Summer

Autumn and Winter rain

My life was taken from me

I was not to blame

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of somebody else’s war

Bombs, shrapnel rained down on me

I fell down, dead, to a bloodied floor

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of persecution

Gassed, or burnt alive

My remains scattered in mass execution

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of a mob attack

Kicked, knifed and left alone

My killers left no clues, no track

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of famine

Dehydrated, starved with millions

Hopelessly waiting relief for my kin

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of disease

Fevers, sickness, complete malaise

My pain; no drugs could ease

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of a car crash

Jolted, thrown through a windscreen

My body strewn in a bloody mash

I did not deserve to die

I was the victim of abuse

Punched, thrown for no reason

I couldn’t fight back; no use

I did not deserve to die

I was the Spring, Summer

Autumn and Winter rain

My life, never to be repeated again

I am the Spring, Summer

The Autumn and Winter rain

Remember me as I fall on terrain

Remember me as the Seasons’ rain

Hi Andrea!! Cretivity at its best and succint! A poem that has a kaleidoscope of interpretation and meaning. What about sending this to some politicians and world leaders?

Perhaps a memory from someone who did not deserve to die will cause someone to ask why and try to make changes. Thank you for the wondeful and thought provoking write.
