You know how to provoke no doubt of that oh wise one;-)
Kate I believe that when a person knows all there is to know about life the sacred parts as well as the secular, when ALL the info is there then there can be no womans or mans rights, but only what is right!It is wrong to kill children whether in the womb or out of it.
Sexual pleasure is not something that has a right of its own. There are consequences that go along with it. When all of those are known including disease etc, then proper moral decisions should be made.

thought provoking--i applaud you for writing this...i think a woman has a choice. if she can't avoid getting pregnant, and doesn't want the baby (yes, BABY--it's not a mass of undecipherable tissue or a fetus, it is a human BABY), she should give it up for adoption...too many other families want children and are unable to do so. it is selfish of the pregnant mother to think only of herself and getting rid of the "problem" is not the answer. if she doesn't want to get pregnant, don't have sex! or use protection! now that i've stated my piece, i'll get off my soapbox now.

As the ads say: "You've come a long way, baby." That is true
of most channels of "progress" made by Modern Day Woman. What
has not changed is the woman herself and her birthing rights.
This, I believe, should be God-controlled, and not a result of
man-made laws. A woman, though, should be able to decide for
herself whether or not she wants to bear children, but not if she should destroy the ones she carries. Destruction of human life is
not her decision to make, nor any other humans.
Oh...dear Kate...you asked for opinions, and I'm sure you'll
get plenty of them on this deeply moving piece of poetry. This
one is just my humble thought...okay?

Bingo, Ed! Think it's progress in terms of what's happening in the world that I'm attempting to get at here - and the dehumanising that's taking place, causing a kind of barrenness and sterility to set in. Thank you for putting a frame round my rather loose thoughts! Kate xx

A most profound poem, Kate. And I agree with the others that every woman should have the right to decide for herself what's best for her.

But it also occurs to me that 'progress' as many like to call what occurs in many areas of our modern world today are actually seen by some as 'rape' regarding things also done to Mother Earth; and she also sadly has little say in the matter.

Kate, your poem does make one think, though I do not understand it all, but is that not the purpose of creative poetry, something to give thought to others. that you have certainly achieved admirably and for that I thank you.

Brings to mind the old adage'...The meek shall inherit the earth. In days of old men thought for females...Now we are responsible and blooming. We have respect and an ear...and the dark aged blinders are off. It's a better world for us and harmony is something that isn't a one-sided, English saddle-sort of ride. I think your poem is wise for today and I'm going to share it with my outspoke daughter.

nobody is getting anything planted if he is dry.........

this i would imagine is a difficult sitation all around......its ironic the ease at which some procreate while for others its a tast.......causing agony and painful examination.......
and yes you can birth thru creativity........its far reaching......and never grows up to leave you
