Close your eyes,
hold out your arms
and let me place in them
a tiny, newborn baby...
See how your heart goes out to it at once;
See how you long to hold it close to your chest,
so that its innocence, purity and vulnerability
might penetrate there.
Feel its peaceful, gentle movements;
its easy breathing.
How quiet and still it makes you.
How its warmth fills your body with joy.
How fresh and new -
yet how ageless and eternal
seems this source of life.
Consider how the rest of the world
seems remote and far off
as you hold this child.
In this moment, you stand together
outside of time...
* * * *
The baby in your arms is the Christchild.
I give to you my Spirit
in exactly the same way.
The Spirit and the flesh
are My Son, my Chosen One
in whom I delight -
precious beyond measure.
I give Him to you."
