Feel like I'm blocking at the moment - great, a month away from handing in my college manuscript! :(( May have to take some time out to "plumb my depths" - if any exist! :)) Meanwhile, having cruised around just reading today, it's taken me to the back of my poetry store again to see what lurks from my first few weeks here 18 months ago... found this one which seems somehow to fit with the collective consciousness at the moment. I've actually changed the title and added a bit of punctuation, so I can call it a rewrite! Apart from that, I'm in total cheat phase! LOL Kate xx..

SPELT?

Love is spelt
R - I - S - K

It may involve
pouring your
whole self out
in a letter
which might be
discarded,
ignored,
laughed at -

or worst of all,
sent back
unopened.

But, if you
cast yourself
upon the waters
like a message
in a bottle,

knowing that
you might never
be found
or received,

at least know
that the many
oceans will
carry you always,

and keep you
from sinking,
lost without trace.

Their name
and nature -
like love -
is spelt

G-O-D

There is no R-I-S-K when one loves G-O-D, magical Kate. (smile)

On a purely secular level, though, this visual piece found all sorts of thoughts to play with in my mind... memories revived, experiences relived... and all the while, there you were, weaving a path of poetry that completed some of my half-baked notions. With brevity, you drew a circle of words with me in the middle. This is a long version of this: I related to this with amazement. Lovely. The light bulb is burning... katy xox

Blimey Kate. I can 100% relate to this.

It may involve
pouring your
whole self out
in a letter
which might be
discarded,
ignored,
laughed at -

I'm in that waiting room right now.

This is another.

"one of your best" into my library it goes..

thank G-O-D you found this one, Kate, 'cause I don't remember reading it and G-O-D knows how much I needed to be reminded that I have been carried regardless of how I perceive the message of my true self has been received. buoyed by your poem today, Dawn

Kate,

This is beautifully imaged and written, no matter how it's spelt. :) Saving this one--you've penned a winner here!

This is a wise and powerful write that obviously is not really a cheat because I must have missed it the first time and now I get to enjoy it as a new write to me. Thank you Sweet Kate.

Oh Kate, once again a reminder that we float on the current and are never forgotten! I needed to read this today. And yes, better to risk hurt and rejection than never have your love known. Ty for this...(You are speaking to the "last minute" queen of all time. Paper due in a month? I can't seem to get it in gear without the challenge and anxiety of a deadline. Should have been a reporter, I guess...lol!)

Conscious connective for sure like Sheee said...cuz i was just mentioning to another...if you don't take risks, are you really living?

Katie- This is strange, but I'm doing it (I read up to R i S K and stopped cuz, I have a poem sitting right here about risk- and mine has to do with the birds flying and perched right near me - what I hear in the whisper of the wind- WE seem to be at a place for a reason, I hope your deeply felt words s u r f a c e and Success and Fun in your College class- of writing, you have me thinking in that direction by fall- for 1 class, that might help break into a new and maybe a different surface- What I will do here, is keep this Poem to read - and I will.. it will be in my Katie Folder- When we Bond-we bond for life---He=y, there's an ending to poem- AS I was saying... I will read it later- I'm sure coming from you, this is another treasured gem- I just didn't want to step on your toes and some familiar in anyway- I'm sure you understand, you have that kind of heart and soul-- Step gently into the light dear Kate-WArmly&Peacefully,Sheee *( Iamfindingthesesoweirdtohavethisconnectionforbeingsofarawaybutnotinheart-Angels are speaking loud and clear- Let's hear them-----ox
