The demons wait for me
Hiding in bottles and glistening coolers
Smirking satisfactorily and licking their lips
They’ve waited so long for my return
They can almost taste me
They welcome me
With hisses and horrific dances
By slamming themselves against the wood
Over and over until they cannot stand
I can almost taste them
They gain their evil courage
And creep closer and closer to me
Pouring themselves off the shelves
And stretching out to seize my hands
They can almost taste me
The demons pull at my clothes
Cloudy visions of the wasted
They swirl around my body like
Cimmerian whirlpools and
I can almost taste them
I’ve got to get out of their reach
There’s no way they’ll let go now
I’m just a silhouette under them
They’ve waited so long for my return
They’ll devour me
