DEFEATING DARKNESS

The sun, ablaze, came from behind,

The earth’s horizon, and did shine

Across the ocean to the shore,

Defeating darkness, night, once more.

It killed the cold and filled the sky,

With brilliant light from way on high,

And told the world it brought a prayer,

To all in pain, who hungered there.

For there was hope with every ray,

That shone upon the ocean’s spray,

Reminding men that with the dawn,

The cold and darkness were all gone.

Just like our sun, orb in the sky,

God lights our path to him on high,

Protects us from our worldly pain,

Defeating darkness, as he reigns.

So let us spread his precious words,

To all who don’t know him on earth,

And help to light up troubled hearts,

Defeating darkness part by part.
