"
Ping" it went or had someone kicked me?
I turned round but no one was there
The next step was painful
Oooooo…..then I was aware
I stumbled to the floor, many eyes could not believe
The racquet had left my hand and I was biting my sleeve
The pain was increasing my anguish was great
Prone on the floor dignity gone with my fate
The nurse took my name and said I’d be seen
By a doctor in a moment, he would be in green
She was in blue and a man in light grey
Whisked and wheeled me to an unoccupied bay.
The doctor asked how this all came about
He touched my sore calf and heard me shout out
"I see it is painful and swollen as well
You’ve ruptured your calf muscle that I can tell"
This evening I was playing a non-violent game
Badminton is not a game for the lame
But the shot was worth it, the point it was won
Or so they said, as I heard a gun
But the shot was no more than a gentle ‘ping’
at the back of my leg, an invisible thing
So no more games for a month or two
Some Poems on this site I’ll visit and view
"Here are your crutches and a bandage for you
Co-codamol tablets in a packet of blue.
Ibuprofen to get you to sleep"
I thanked him sincerely, as I usually count sheep.
So thank you dear Jocelyn, you’ve been my great aid
For breakfast in bed and you never get paid!
I must find a way from a position of rest
To tell all I meet, that you are the best.
Love Tinka
