FLASH FICTION
Our annual club dinner was a two course meal
This time lamb, thank God, it was not veal
The plate arrived hot with a pleasant smile
Two slices of lamb with various vegetable in a pile.
I sat in silence as a dark eyeless bug appeared
Moving towards the meat as my eye there leered.
There was no meat either as I scrapped back the sauce
And on closer inspection the vegetable was moss.
I looked up at the waiter and he smiled at me
Eyes wide wide open with a smile of glee
“Excuse me” I growled. “I’m not eating this!”
The table took notice and said just “HISS”
I stood up and threw the plate to a wall
A hushed silence grew obnoxiously over all.
The voice of reason came out of the blue.
“It’s your favourite, spaghetti bolognaise with spinach”.
My mind contemplated the news as I scratched an itch.
“You’ve had another. Take your time. Be at your leisure.”
Then I realised I’d had another petit mal seizure.
Ends.
