I know the woods better
Because of you.
Silent winter freeze;
Cool lament
Of water under ice.
Shades of spring;
May apples and dogwood
Flowers now named.
Summer stars and swelter.
Creeping fingers
Of poison ivy and love.
Smokey autumn;
World on fire,
Ivy and me creeping back
To where we belong.
