Terror rode the planes
as they flew through the sky.
Innocents on board, had no help,
were afraid they would die.

As they flew toward eternity,
death was riding too.
Many were scared,
they didn't know what to do.

Some clung to each other,
with their heads bowed in prayer.
Others called loved ones,
to let them know they cared.

The planes struck the twin towers,
Washington DC and a Pennsylvania field.
Death and destruction reigned supreme,
in that disasterous scene.

Hero's were born that day,
families were torn apart.
Such turmoil and grief,
filled our nation's breaking hearts.

We commerate their kindred spirits,
while seasons come and go,
ever mindful of what was lost,
as onward we proudly go!
