DOING TIME ON PLANET EARTH

How do you get by? What are your addictions?

How are ya gonna’ die?

What are your afflictions?

How do you sleep at night?

Knowing what you’ve done how can you think you’re right,

when the whole world thinks you’re wrong?

Yet, I believe

things are gonna be

Better than today

We’re all doing time on planet earth

Whatever happened to free will?

You kill because you want to kill

We've all had our fill

They say you're just an animal

run amuck

But I’ve never seen an animal

Kill for a buck

What is the cause of all our ills

Greed, lust, unlawful laws?

Or just a thirst for thrills?

Yet I believe

 things are gonna be

Better than today

We’re all doing time on planet earth

Blame your pornography

Blame society and

Blame Religion

Blame drug addiction

Oh but whatever you do

Don’t blame you

Although it’s true

You know it’s true

Would society be so ill

If there’s plenty to go ‘round

And why do people kill

Children in the playground?

Yet I believe

things are gonna be

Better than today

We’re all doing time on planet earth

As I read this I could almost "hear" it--as though set to music. It's good write, with a powerful message, too. Thanks for sharing this, Albert.

Nice work! I do indeed love written work that makes me think as I read and even after I am done reading. I am glad I stopped by.
