Nightmares

In my bed and out of
the visual port. Surfacing
from a nightmare sleep.
He was there, Step-dad
still haunting.

I recall his talons, on my
liquid spewed back.
His hand slippery while
forcing me down.
Grabbing my hair
he tossed me over
for the frontal assault.

Sharp and deep, he clawed my
bloody eyes out.
To make me not see,that
he’s a man with a
touch of criminal insanity.

Fog laden and black
are the hues of this life.
In-between eye drops
and leakage.
Lacking distinctness, not
dull nor bright.

The shock of his death
numbs my senses.
Disturbed eye sockets, cracked
with woolen webs.
Orbital madness
with no
view in sight.

Pleasant dreams Janet.

Another "survivor" who felt your pain deep to the bone.
Keep remembering that you are a highly gifted poet, who
is treasured by many here at The Den, not the least of
which is me.

A haunting piece that riddles the reader with eye-opening verse. It
leaves one with a certain disdain for 'humanity' ... an adept and powerful write!

WELL HONEY now we're quits. I post a serious piece, you comment on the paragraph about my tattoo. You post a serious piece, I start flirting.
Seriously this is an excellent, horrific thought provoking poem Jan and I like it just as much as I did first time around.

Janet, I've read this several times, and the pain even in reading is beyond the imagination of most.
For a child to be forced to live within this nightmare, is a horrid nasty thought.
Your words sting, but should clear the path for all to understand.

Pain expressed is pain positively used. Writing poetry is incredibly cathartic. I said this not for your benefit Janet but for TASK (Sorry mate but your review wasn't the ticket).
Janet, your poem is incredibly well written although horrific in content. It literally sent shivers through me. I will be reading more from your mighty pen.
