From the Caldwell/Phillips collection and available in my book of poetry.

I was drinking again, hanging out
In the local tavern of losers
Newly divorced, no man friend
Sucking a bottle for comfort

The jukebox was making
The familiar whine in tempo
To the rest of the patrons
This time I mind the anesthesia

And the beer nuts I can’t stand
The nostalgia-induced coma
Coming on. I need some rock
Some earsplitting roll
Feedback-distortion

Slap me awake; it’s a long drive
Home. I dig in my jeans
Pull a pill and a quarter
Swallow the quarter
Head for the music machine
And drop the pill in the slot

Caldwell Phillips 2002-2004

Janet, another well-penned creative piece of uniquely pleasure some poetry delivered with remarkable clarity. I continue to be drawn into your timeless creations and can (almost vividly…lol) remember many a day dropping a pill in the magical music box! Absolutely stunning work, Poet! I am continually impressed with your brilliant mind! Thank you for sharing it with us. Bravo!

dont know why its guadalupe iv got a friend guadalupe grande she a spanish poet quite famous but not translated well i was looking for
the spanish connection from the title but it could be any time from james dean on but a good idea to snip the genre & make a poem of it
the last line is a great tag & gives the rest of it timing. im interested how ian says hed shift bits around in it, why dont you take up his challenge robin

This is very good sweetie, nearly sublime in fact - all you needed was a good editor to change a word here and there and shift some line endings.

As for needing some rock and roll, well I'll have to get you to one of Dav's gigs. In fact Stringbark McDowell is due in from Oz soon, so with Dave and Stringy on the same gig and me promoting you will have the best seat in the house.
love
me.

Guess you were more thought than you drunk you were. The only problem with swallowing a quarter is you get a little voice telling you to deposit another one for the next three minutes.
