Very interesting and nicely written. I wonder why you projected evil an devils onto him, though. It could be he's sick, and with all the cuts to social services can't get the help he needs - in which case he's the innocent and his mother's heart would break for another reason.
Inspiring, I saw a guy panhandling on street corner the other day and even though he was being ignored by evryone I called him over and gave him $2 in change it was like magic all of a sudden windows started opening and people all started giving him change even held up the light to do it. GOd truly does work in mysterious ways Leah.
