my poor America…look at you!
sitting there, all bruised and battered
while your children weep for you
and for those that you’ve taken
and placed beneath your
strong
beautiful
roots
nothing a little kiss and smile
won’t fix right up.
so today, America…
sit back and soak up the
kisses and smiles
(and even the tears),
and remember that your children
will take care of you when
you’re old and gray.

Wonderfully expressed, tender thoughts. And hey - am a little late in welcomeing you to the den - but welcome. Hope you learn to love it as much as I have.
