The Heartbreak Kid

by Lloydene F Hill — Read all 32 poems by Lloydene F Hill

A little something for a young man I know, who I think is very special and quite overwhelmed by his life at the moment.

Wednesday, June 13, 2001

Without stepping over boundaries, without breaking mores, I watch your life unfold, knowing the heartbreak in store.

You seem so young, so vulnerable, so real. Mistakes that you've made have caused you much pain to feel.

The love you shared is now no more, there is no place for her to show you, except for the door. So you run, and I think, not wanting to really, to the one who helped you to cross those lines and now, who, makes you feel needy.

Little ones, eyes wet with the tears of anger, misunderstanding, and lost years. The way this all works out makes life so horrible and demanding.

This will pass, you know it will. You must move past this heartbreak, there is no more thrill. One pain at a time, and wonder whether or not you'll survive, but yet you somehow know you will.

I beg you, do not fall off the abyss of despair, because another mistake you'll make, and with this one you'll have no life to spare, and just remember always that there still someone who cares.

No more will I belabor points you have come to know, for soon my friend it will be time your time to show.

So I'll end this now in the midst of your mental dawn. It can be your time now, so try, be wise, and be no person's pawn.

Remember, reflect and learn from the defeat of what you did. And should you ever need me, my counsel, or just to be your Id; I'll be there for you, as friend, and voice of reason, my blessed Heartbreak Kid.

An excellent summary of heart-break and the constant energy surrounding this youth, whether a positive force (you, a friend) or the negative force ( the one he runs to).

Why is it that when we are heart-broken we turn to something/someone who is so damaging to our spirit? Such is youth, such is life.

My best to your Heartbreak Kid!!! **** Love ya, Janet xoxoxo
