A disturbing disclosure, one of our dearest poet/author friend had received hate e-mails and name-calling from someone(s) that don't agree or like her topics posted, and to compound it all are doing it anonymous.
If someone called you a real moron
and you feel that it, you know,
by bending over you only prove
it is probably true , you are an idiot;
but don't stop there, there's more,
cause', if you don't feel to been apart
it will be the one using name-calling
who can call himself the real retard.

I don't know Georg. I tend to thrive on hate mail. I get a good laugh and successfully bait ignorance out into the open anonymous or not. You're right though, they can be oxygen thieves. - HB

Well it's just a typical human reaction, when someone is getting more attention to their work....jealousy is a frightful thing.
Whoever is being harrassed, tell em to PM me, I have a few comical comebacks that generally work well.

So sad that people have feelings such as this about a fellow writer, let alone another human being! We don't all have the same interests or write about the same topics, what boring world that would be! If someone posts something that doesn't appeal to us, don't read it and move on. What doesn't appeal to one, does another and vise versa! There is no excuse for hate mail and hurt feelings! This is a shame!

It is so sad that adults behave this way. I'm always out of the loop, but it seems that this happens far too frequently here. We should be celebrating each other...both our diversities and those things that hold in common~ Thanks for the poem~
Georg...like the other who have commented on this, I find it sad but not that surprising. I am on my seventh year with this community. I have seen periods of sophomoric behavior and outright nastiness. Twice I have been the target of such individuals.
What you have done here, to address it via words...and then to ignore them is the best recourse.
Individuals who do this thrive on attention. Deny them that and let them steep in their own bland existance.

I just celebrated being on Authors Den for one year. I have encountered two of these low-life cowards in that time. They are not easy to deal with emotionally. I find hope, though, in knowing that this universe is built on a principle of seedtime and harvest, and that what someone sows in their life, they will surely reap.
Sometimes, though, you just need to be a little bit stronger and more resilient than your attackers. Pray that their hard drive melts permanently!
It's stalking, plain and simple, and should not be regarded as harmless behaviour by any means. You never know just how far a sick-f*%k might take it. Another member and I have been dealing with an online stalker or stalkers on an ongoing basis. From reading the responses below I now realize it is not an isolated incident after all. This behaviour should not be tolerated. Stalkers should be identified and proscuted to the full extent of the law. Thank you for sharing Georg, having been one to be called vile names in the past for my christian poems,I know the feeling. However, like Ed K. says when we ignore them they finally slink away into the cowardly hell they live in.

With technology is anything really anonymous. I've asked this question of the last one's that got slammed with this. It is a shame yet as another post said, in online groups we call it flaming for it does ignite the angry feelings. I should dig out my lesson on hate mail resolutions. Lady J
AMEN! Everyone on this authorsden site has something to offer whether we agree or not. I have been slam dunked but I ignore their offerings as my thoughts are purely mine. People should never stoop to call anyone bad things. My Mother, rest her soul, said tongues are like a swinging gate, rife to strike and until the mouth is shut that person will never know peace and the gate will swing shut on them. Well said, Georg.
*ouch* Why do they do this? Flaming? Really sad: we write because we have to, if they don't like it, they don't have to read. None of this is necessary. Right?? Very astute observations, well penned.
I've been a member of AD since 2003, and I've seen quite a bit of this nastiness here, Georg. It comes and goes, and troublemakers come and go; and the anonymous troublemakers are the worst, but if we ignore them, they usually slink away.
