The rules of grammar I have found
Place me upon unsteady ground
The thing called Predicate Subjective
Flatly issues a Directive
So if I say "Hello, it's me"
I'm guilty of near blasphemy
Those rules on which I must rely
Demand instead I state "It's I"
And furthermore, remember when
Some friends arrive, don't say "It's them!"
They tell us that the proper way
To speak is to announce "It;s They!"
If this all seems a little strange
And if I seem a bit deranged
I did not make the rules this way
It was those other folk- 'Twas They
I think that I'll create a school
Defining a new Golden Rule
Which lets me state quite comfortably
Not I- not They- but just "It's me."
