I close my eyes
and see your face
memories jump
at me from corners of my mind
it wasn’t supposed to be like this
sweet baby boy
you are my life

do I lay you to rest

how did this happen
that I am here
and you are not
my life I would give to you
it wasn’t supposed to be like this
and I can’t breath
for the pain
that chokes
my heart
it just wasn’t suppose to be like this
I shall always miss you
there will never be a moment of my life
that I
will not cry out

This poem hit me personally because I lost my firstborn and only son many years ago. It was a very difficult loss for me that I will never recover 100% from.
