I figured out the cause
of my morning attitude
it’s the alarm
i've been listening to that thing
for 16 years and today realized
its horrid
shrill sounds like a mother raven with a cat after her nest
awful
and loud
crimminy
I have a headache just thinking about it
what kind of thing is that to do to a
gentle sleeping soul
kind of like ripping the bedding from beneath you
truly a rude awakening
what noise would I have
something soft
something sweet
perhaps a replica
of a cooing dove
bringing me up through levels of consciousness
gently
instead of cold water in your face wakeup bullshit
whoever devised that godawful noise has probably been
giggling for years
knowing that he is ruining countless lives
I picture him now in some dark dungeon, rubbing sweaty palms
evil laughter AHAHHAHHA I FEEL THE ANGUISH OF THE MASSES
AND ITS ALL BECAUSE OF MEEEEEE AHAHAHAHA
well mister count me out
no more will I be subject to you evil devise
no more will I be yanked from my bliss
with your screeching caaaa noise
I can and I will find a new means
I can and I will find a kinder gentler wakeup
or maybe
ill just sleep

ps. one time my ex got tired of the alarm and got sicsors and cut the cord and it was soo funny because it made this loud boom that woke up the neighbors and they came over cuz they thought it was a gun but the poor guy had black hands for a week. hahahha, it was so funny.

I'm with Scada on this one, almost threw mine on the floor and jumped up and down on it. Nice elicitaion of emotion with this write. Bravo!

i have arranged my life to avoid the alarm. i use my sound machine set to go off when i need to wake up and the silence will reach me eventually every time
I think that is a great idea...the alternative is really...just to hit...snooze

This poem gave me an almost uncontrollable urge to go into my bedroom and smash my alarm clock. I'm okay now though... I think... lol. Great write as usual, Josie.
