kay so I have this hairbrained idea
I’m trying to organize
a festival
a word festival
a Celebration of Words
at my local grammar school
get each kid to pick a poem any poem
recite it in class teacher picks three
assembly with local poets judging
interpretation, diction, presentation
gold, silver, bronze certificates
local artists read their own works
hairbrained I know
but somebodies gotta do it
somebodies gotta take the boring out of poetry
somebodies gotta make it real
alive
hey the kids are the ones buying the books in ten years
hey the kids are the ones writing the books in ten years
hey the kids need to know that poetry isn’t a bad word
hairbrained
am I nuts or what
how’d I get an E ticket
does any one know Silverstein, my son asked if he could be a judge?
Does Hair-brained mean having creative ideas? then yes you have a hair-brained idea...and that is what I like about it. Someone must teach this new generation that to be a poet is not a four-lettered word.

In today's world, let them know there is an "outlet" for what they feel, and that "others" feel the same way! Poetry is perfect!! I Trust you WILL be able to make it "colorful" and alive for them!!
