every member of this family that is school bound
has new clothes

we still need to stock up on supplies
but clothes we have

which I’m not sure are code ok
2 pairs of gap jeans and some flip-flop sandal things
she’s happy

got 2 pair of docker black/1 blue
one very cool button down
three tees-
---independent trucks
---concert security
---burton snowboards
plus skateboard tennis shoes
he’s happy
the little guy
got a spongebob tee
three button downs all Hawaiian print
4 pairs pants and shorts
no shoes, he’s up a pair on the other two
he’s happy

haircuts we need
verification of immunizations
which will require a trip to the docs
can’t find the damn never lose yellow cards damn
and
taking time off for first day deposit
at least for the youngest
the other two furgeddaboutit
with one week
one week left of summer
I’m just glad
we made it
we are all alive
the house shows major strains of wear
but for the most part
we survived
halleluiah praise God
I remember in times past
being a little sad about school starting
no more of that nonsense
off to school you
no more sleeping till noon
no more mtv and cartoon network
no more hours and hours online
no more infernal summer chore list
no more constant phone calls to work
----with he did she did
no more
hah
I am free
and I pay my taxes with pride
with joy
and I will kiss the feet of the people
who will take in these rug rats for the next
nine months
to try to pound some data into their brains
teachers teachers teachers may they livelong and prosper
and may my children
learn and grow
and may they look back
when true adulthood rears its ugly head
fondly
at the nest of love that was this summer
