stale
old and moldy
rank of putrid self loathe
I am not a prize
this I know
I am but
a dream for myself
a hope of a girl lost in her idea
of
perfect ness
of
importance
please forgive this ego
this idiotic ideal
that what I believe I am
matters
I am sorry
if I portrayed to you
a picture of what I am not
beneath this smile
there lives meanness
the façade of necessity to adhere
to the politeness of society
cannot hold up within the daily grind
I see that clearly in your eyes
please forgive me
had I not this love for you
I would care less
that you are trapped
that you feel bound
but
I do
so I say this
be free of me
I know my faults
I know that I am ugly of heart and cruel of soul
and that in my unhappiness
I cause your grief
you who are witty and much loved
do not deserve to live
in the squalor
of my ineptness
be free again I say
go now
and start anew
I cast you away
out of love
and out of hate
for what I am
what I have let myself become
stale
old and moldy
rank of putrid self loathe

not really, just playing with words
hi all, got me a new modem i can play again
heeeee haawww

Excellent write Josie...yes I am raiding your den with a little catching up reading...Y Que? You are one great girl but I would love really knowing the one you wrote about...that is my ideal of "Human" more than anything else through Self-analyzation.

What you believe you are DOES matter...as a man/woman thinketh, so is he/she. And I, for one, love it that you're so open about yourself...even if you're just playing with words (& aren't we all)! Thanks for the comments on my work. I look forward to your future posts! Keep baring that soul...even if it's just "for fun!"

Even if you were just playing with words, you captured the spirit of a wounding lover well.

For the person in the poem... I would congratulate her for knowing sometimes you have to cut some branches and let them take root elsewhere ,for some branches can actually make the tree ugly and a smart tree always sees it,I am all for pruning ones self even when the branches are reluctant to get the chop...I liked this whole poem it rung out of self preservation rather than dieing in anothers perception of how we should be.Get rid of any braches that make self feel ugly.

I thought you were being too hard on yourself. But I'm glad it's only playing with words.
