I am
the camera girl
not a good camera girl
but always
the camera girl
I take the pictures
wherever we go
I got the camera
now I don’t see things like regular folk
sometimes
I remember to take pictures of faces
like
the kids
but mostly
I walk around taking pictures
of
what most would think
are Odd things
like
the ground, or a rock, or
the limbs of a tree whilst laying on the ground
odd
I took 21 pictures of a clump of mushrooms
in the back yard
that the lawnmower ate the next day Odd
tree bark and granite rock
call to me
the textures the colors
the lines the flow
the gentleness
of a mountain outlined against a setting sun
the furiousness of a crashing wave
footprints in the sand
broken barns and falling fences
open windows with billowing curtains
church steeples
these things are what I see
what I want to capture
flowers o god flowers and plants
alright I have a host of pictures of weeds
and
when out in the world
be it the zoo or hiking, wherever we are
I always take up the rear guard
always at the tail end of the group
just in case one of the kids fall out
I’m there to grab them by the nap of the neck
and tow them back in line
so
I have about a zillion
pictures of my little family walking ahead
I
can’t
help
myself
funny in the beginning there was the littlest on
the shoulder of dad or holding hands
walking a trail
then one more and then the last little guy
and
always I snap one or two shots
maybe get a cameo of a face here and there
but always
my angle, my view
I love those shots backside walking shots
they put me right back into that moment
into that thought
“there’s my babies”
odd
now
if only I would develop them HA
