I Want the Same for You

If life for me seems like a rose garden
It’s because of what He did for me
I don’t mean just on the cross
I mean in the present
Life I live!
As a child growing up
I saw how my dad prayed
Saw how he loved the Lord
I wanted to be just like my dad
So I started doing the same
And talked to Jesus just like dad did!
Oh, I would tell Him stories
As I looked up at the night sky
I would tell Him if I was sad
And ask Him to make me happy
I would take my silly scratches and bruises
And ask Him to make them better
For I truly believed that He was real!
When at thirty-three
I fell ill and nearly died
I clung to Him in prayer
And so did many others, too
There’s no need to tell you
That He answers prayers and still heals today
For I’m still here to testify
Of His love and personal care!
It was during that miserable time in hospital
That He showed me what in life was important
It was not found in material possessions
It was not even found in higher education
Nor was it found in wealth or titles
It was found in love and patience
Kindness and gentleness
Faithfulness and goodness
Peace and inner joy
But the biggest thing of all
Was self-control!
Once I learnt this truth, though it took some time
I asked to exchange my own defects
For God’s special fruit of the Spirit
And now I want the same for you
Just ask Him, please, just ask
And leave the rest to Him!
This is my note of love to you!
God Bless!
