A Listening Ear
By

Sometimes when we grieve
We’d rather be alone
Or talk to someone
With a listening ear!
It isn’t that we seek advice
On how to mend a broken heart
And so ease the pain of grief
That is the last thing we need
It’s just that talking offers release
And a listening ear brings comfort!
“Weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning.” Psalm 30:5
So if blessed with a listening ear
Lend it to that hurting someone
To show just how much you care
And without doubt you have done
A mighty deed even though you were silent
He was at work in your midst!
“Wait on the Lord; be of good courage
and He shall strengthen thine heart…”
Psalm 27:14
He is always faithful you inspire me so Much Lena.....

Just letting someone rattle on when they are in pain, says, I care enough about you, to allow you to take up time in my day, and even though we do not have the answers to ppls problems, more often than not, ppl just by talking about things, actually come to conclusions all by themselves, there is strength is the silent listener. Interjecting only where it is necessary, so the speaker dosent get the impression he/she is being ignored.
A problem shared is a problem halved, if the listener is of good character and conviction!!
Totally loved this write, ty Lena.
God bless
Ch'erie
two ears and one mouth. That we should listen
"twice as much" as we talk. Hmmm.
Thanks, Lena.
They pretend to understand while placating the visble weaknesses of another. I have rarely had a conversation with another who wasn't thinking about what they would be saying when you stopped talking, or looking for the imperfections or anomalies in your character. No one really gives anymore, most want something in return.
One of the biggest problems in this society is communication, or the lack thereof. Real communication is in its death throes. I'm typing words on a computer screen to communicate with you. And to you I am just words on a computer screen that seem to have a personality and a spirit.
People see what is unlike them, or what they don't like in others, and then try to proselyse them into being more like them. of course there are exceptions, but I have found this to be the norm more often than not.
Who has a compassionate, wise, and listening ear anymore?
Richard
