I Pray, Dear Lord

Dear Father in Heaven
Precious is your Holy Name
Thank you for Your grace and mercy
In guiding me through life thus far
I come to you this day for renewal
I pray, dear Lord
That I be used even more
In any way possible
To do Your work
If it is to keep on writing
Inspire me with Your words of wisdom
If it be through music
Grant my fingers flexibility
And sharpen my ability to memorize
Keyboard notes, scales and all
(As You know how advancing years
Can sometimes dull the memory)
What joy it is, dear Lord,
To pen the thoughts which come to mind
I know not where these thoughts would land
Or how indeed they will be used
I’m just content to sit and write
And pray that I’ve penned them right
But if perchance it is in speech I might be used
Here too, Lord, Your help I’ll need
For anxious nerves will
Sometimes encourage verbal diarrhoea
And Confucius mixed with adrenalin
A lethal combination make
So please renew my body, mind, and spirit, dear Lord
Thank you for this time together
And for the privilege of being a minor player
In Your major ministry here on Earth
In Jesus’ precious name I pray
Amen!
“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord;
in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee,
and will look up.” Psalm 5:3
made better because of it!
I echo Richard's wisdom...use only what Father God gives you - nothing more and nothing less. Trust and obey, especially in the face of adversity! He will do the rest.

Yes we do fade a little as we get older don't we? But that matters not to God. If we are willing, He will use what we have still, and even multiply our efforts beyond our wildest dreams. There's nothing impossible for He who formed us, and knows our days from beginning to end.
I have been criticized at times because my writing and poetry does not speak a clear and easily digestible Christian message. I was criticized, too, at times, when I was recording muscian because my music wasn't commercial enough and that it blatantly praised God.
When that happens I always dive into the Song of Solomon and realize again that He uses everyone in the way that they have been formed and with the gifts they have been given.
Write and express musically what He gives you - nothing more nothing less - and then let Him move upon others with the message and blessing.
