The below is an excerpt from my book entitled, Beginning of Life- Hearfelt Poetry. See the below form of colloquialism expressed through my poetry.

The Dance is an internal conversation I had with myself and it expresses my thoughts I have had in which inspired me to write the below poems.

"The Dance"

I'll take the blame, I though to myself. I wasn't going to blame those men in my life for the choices I've made. I wasn't going to let my insecurities with men take over my perceptions of life. I knew that I was a giver and that I loved to care for people. My love was truly unconditional.

I chose to believe in these men, even when they didn't believe in themselves. I felt that with a little bit of encouragement they would get back on their feet, but for some reason I never received their support and appreciation in return. So that's why I decided to take the blame because I know I'm worthy of true love.

FOLLOW ME

How dare you say?
I won't make it
How could you possibly think?
I'm nothing without you
Those words aren't very reassuring,
but nevertheless

Follow Me

I though it was love and you had my back
Always your way or nothing at all,
but I loved you and I stood by your side

Follow Me

One morning I woke up and thought
Why am I so unhappy?
If he is everything to me and he loves me
Why does it still hurt inside these
warm chambers of love?

Follow Me

Then the lights started to sparkle and shine
A reflection came into my mind
Who am I following?

Because if I was following me and what I deserved
I wouldn't be feeling such pain that hurts
That's when I decided
I must believe in the unseen

So I WILL FOLLOW HE

COFFEE HOUSE

See the steam rising from the hot cup
The relaxing mood and the mellow touch
Some collective thoughts that will keep you entertained
Thinking change is something that doesn't remain the same
Sitting back staring at the sky
I see blue and white clouds sitting above
While misty rain falls from the sky
Time to reflect on the moves you've made
The ups and downs of moments you can't explain
Reading a book that appears to never end
Always trying to make the right moves
So you won't repeat them again
Then one day you looked up
Thought... Where am I? What is it
that I have to prove?
I respond nothing
Just keep on moving to the next step
And let your light shine through

Hi Chanetta,
This is a good start to a short story. Is there more? Not being a poet I don't know anything about Heartfelt Poetry. To be honest I don't know anything about poetry. It's a nice little write. two typos Best Wishes from Joyce
