When someone forgets to ask, then usually the forget to ask starts working both ways

She Just Stopped Asking

She poured herself a cup of coffee
Did her morning errands before the
Kids woke up

She fixed breakfast,
Whatever they would eat was
Fine with her, on to school
About her day was what was
On her mind

A quick kiss given, finally she was
Alone
So was he, then he began to start thinking
She didn’t say good morning, would you
Like a cup of coffee, juice or fruit,
How would like your egg, is your
Toast all right, what are your plans
For the day

On schedule went the day
Lunch on the run, supper
To start when kids are having snacks
Doing their homework, they wait
To its’ time to eat, then they
Chatter the meal away, she sits in
Silence, dreaming of better days

When bedtime arrived, the kids were tucked in
To old for stories, but never to told for a
Goodnight wish with a kiss
She shut the door to the bathroom
She came out ready for bed, she brushed
Her hair, tucked herself in

He laid back, thought of how the day
Went, stared at the ceiling, while staring a
At the back of her, it dawned on him
She didn’t ask, what would he like for supper
Or how was his day she didn’t ask
About the job, or a vacation
That was ahead, she didn’t ask
How the roast was, didn’t offer him
wine, she just sat there
As if being somewhere else
He thought it all out
She Just Stopped Asking
When did this come about

It creeps in after years of taking things for granted
then it'll never be the same
sometimes one gets preoccupied with other thoughts
I loved this outstanding piece you presented us with
Welcome to "The Den"

I think speaks of a universal theme; sadly, a recurring one. Well done. Thank you for sharing this offering. Love and peace,

A delightful story/poem, well formed using enjambments in abundance. Great to see..
