What curdles YOUR blood, more than true life horror?

Death Knell

 
I saw you
live
I saw you
die
Sardonic Mask
and my
oh my
Own heart
skipped its
beat.

All the ghosts
and goblins
ghouls of
the Past
tried to 
haunt me
and hold me
fast

To the Horror
of watching
your body 
descend
Your heart
and lungs
reaching their
End.

If your brain
was aware
nobody knew
Not one eye
ever crept open
To bid us
Adieu.

All was dark
and foreboding
Death lurking
in the corner 
of the room
behind the webs 
of doubt were fears
beckoning Doom.

But a massive heave
a final Sigh
And the Last Enemy
had to
wave Goodbye!

Suddenly 
The Mask 
was off
And your spirit
flew away
Into the arms
of your Saviour
And we shall see
You again
One Day...
 
Resurrected.

An interesting twist at the end. Ever hopeful that the Christian myth is correct and so called "saved" people will be resurrected at all the rest doomed to a mythical place called, Hell.
