The Little Things

Do you love your brother or sister so they will love you?

Do you feed the poor for praises for what you do?

Do you serve God for eternal glory and praise?

Is it your wish for greater blessings throughout your days?

If you love your brother, that is good for it is God’s will.

However, if you love him for your own salvation God’s voice will be still.

You should want to serve god but not to achieve eternal life

Or to assure that you will not ever need to deal with troubles or strife.

The greatest blessing you can achieve in this life my friend

Is the blessing of the giving of love that knows no end?

God knows your mind and he also knows your heart.

He sent Jesus Christ to give us our start

But he is waiting on us to unselfishly love

And to reflect the greater love that comes from above.

So my friend I ask you why you serve God on high

Who sits on his thrown watching over you and I.

Is it to achieve salvation where time has no place?

Or is it because you have met your lord face to face?

Love your neighbors, do good to everyone you meet

Your salvation is already bought for you, a gift that is so sweet.

But do what you do out of true love for God and his son

And when you meet him again, he will praise what you’ve done.

Let God be the one who gives you the praise

He sees who you’ve helped and he counts the ways

That you have shown your love and your true commitment.

Not done to earn salvation for that has already been sent.

Love because God loved you first.
