They Stood and Watched

They stood outside the farmhouse, looking through the dusty window pane.

Their eyes were focused on what was going on inside but their hopes were all in vain.

They could see the farmer and the pigs as they talked inside the house.

They had worked for total equality from the horse to the tiny mouse.

These were not the pigs who had led the way to freedom for them each and every one.

They were the great-great grandchildren now forgetting all the good that was done.

The other animals could not hear what was said for the meeting was held behind a closed door.

“It is a ba-ad state affair,” said the sheep “They care for us no more.”

“I truly thought they would keep equality alive but Naay, this is not true .”

This came from the horse that stood outside and watch with nothing else to do.

Said the lamb, “It’s a world gone ma-ad and it’s everyone for himself it seems.” 

“It seems the leaders have to soon forgotten about all our wondrous dreams.

“Why do we stand here and mooan,” said the cow to the rest.”

She said, “We should make our voices heard and tell them what is best

That all animals are created equal just as our forefathers taught.

If we forget this important fact our lives are lived in fault.

Let’s tell the pigs and the farmer, too that we still believe in democracy.

Let them know if they give us less they are guilty of great hypocrisy.
