Narrow the way to eternal life said our Lord and Master

And narrow the way he meant.

However he also told us that we could not follow him

That is to say, we could not yet go where he went.

Although he has explained all of this to us many have misunderstood

Although the road is narrow it turns like the rivers that flow.

Narrow the road but it turns and twists

So his advice is to live right and go slow.

Look for the turns so you will not miss one and find you alone and lost.

For if we follow not his instructions our eternal life will be the cost.

Know that God will make changes for our good

Whenever he sees the need to do so

Because only by turning us around sometimes  

Can we feel better about where we have stood.

So be ye not fooled by the long narrow way

For narrow does not mean go straight.

There will be hills to climb and valleys some days

As we go traveling toward our eternal fate.

So follow the Shepherd and be hopeful, always trusting in his love

For his staff will guide you around every turn until you rest with him up above.
