Have you ever wanted to simply sit and feel sorry for yourself? Who hasn't?
I wrote this because I am guilty as charged. But, faith overcomes even self pity.

Woe is me…For Fun!

There is an exercise that I have often wanted to work at.

It’s called feeling sorry for me; pity me or some such thing as like that.

The only problem is that I find I have not the time to give

For you see, this exercise affects the way I live.

It burns up all my energy and gives me little joy.

It makes me feel downhearted and easy to annoy.

I could groan about my aches and pains and cry out in the night

But what would it accomplish?  It would give no me insight.

So rather than to waste my time feeling so ignored

I will throw my troubles upon the broad and strong shoulders of my Lord.

He says, “I know your every pain for, you see, I feel them too.

I hurt for you and I work for you.  Your faith will see you through

Each pain and every heart break that you may have to endure.

For, my son I am with you now and always, of that you can be sure.

So, I think I will not waste my time on an exercise in woe.

I will look at life as a wondrous thing leading to the next life, the one I long for so.

And where he is I will also be he promised this to me.

Where my soul will surely fly up high for he has set me free.

I feel the call of he Lord. I can think of it as a plus or a minus - Today I choose plus - It is the first day of the beginning of my new life

Hi Lew, This is exactly how I think. Why waste time on woe is me? Pity parties are depressing and only satisfy the woe even more. Good write. There is so much more to life.

God Bless
Lena
