Isn’t Hate Awful?

Jesus summed up the Ten Commandments in two great and equal parts

“Love the Lord Thy God with thy soul and also with all thy heart.

And love thy neighbor as you love yourself,” he said.

We too many times forget these words and choose to hate instead.

We find it easy to hate another because of the color of his skin

We find that we can look down upon a man who does not share in our religion.

What we often fail to see and What Jesus wants us to learn

Is that we are all works in progress Salvation is not ours to earn.

We simply accept his gift of life and we’ll find he has planted a seed

That will replace all resentment and hatred with true love to meet our need.

Hate will stand there in our way, a high impassible wall.

So high we will not see God's love for the wall will grow too tall.

The happy point to make about this horrible hateful spell

Is that it is easily drowned with water from Jesus Christ’s eternal well.

It means we can fill the void of hate with loves eternal glow.

He plants the seed he only asks you and I to work the soil until that love will grow.

Remember that the seed was planted by our God and his great love.

Remember this and you will someday meet with him in the glorious Heaven above.
