Sunsets
The day is coming to its end as days do.
The sun is lying over the high mountain in the west.
It’s been a long bright day with a sky of blue
The memory of the dawn fades as now the sun looks forward to its rest.
I watch it grow dim as the sky darkens all around
And I notice that the bustle of the day is replace with the sound
Of birds singing as if to proclaim the approach of night
But the sun pays no mind to the bird’s lovely song.
It grows dim and becomes sleepy, slowly turning off its light.
Then the sound of the birds is replaced by the chirping of crickets all around.
The sun has now closed its eyes and now seems to sleep.
It is unaware of the night and does not know its sound.
For it is now gone beyond us behind the mountain so steep.
Now we rest as the sound of the night gives us cause
To take the time to join the sun in sleep.
Now for the night we put our lives on pause.
Tomorrow the sun will again arise once more.
Will it bring a bright blue sky or will rain come along?
Will there be beautiful white clouds or will the come and rains pour?
Either way, we are grateful for each day that comes.
Be it sunshine or rain, be it cloudy or bright.
We look beyond the sky and we can see the light.
He is Jesus!
