What is a Man Profited?

There once lived a man who was rich with silver and gold

But he wanted more from Jesus, our Lord

And Jesus said the man could follow him if first, his riches were sold.

The man walked away with heavy heart as if pierced by a double edged sword

Jesus told his disciples, “If you would come after me you must deny yourself”

He told them if they would save their lives they must first be willing to lose it.

For he asked that if a man shall gain the whole world and its wealth

And lose his soul what, then is he profited? 

Jesus went on to ask, “What shall a man give in exchange for his soul, his spiritual health?

Jesus told his followers that they would one day be rewarded, each according to his works and some

Would not savor the taste of death he said

Until they saw the Son of man in his kingdom.

They saw him arise after three days from the dead

As they did believe in him and you will find true freedom.

Trust in him and follow him and let not your hearts be troubled, my friend

For when they hung our Lord upon that cross that was not the end.

HE LIVES!
