I wrote this as a tribute to the people who are still battling to get their lives back after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. My prayers are with them.

Poem Artwork

Katrina, Oh Katrina

You came storming into town amidst great confusion and fear.

You blew apart the homes that these people held so dear.

Your winds had no mercy as they called upon the waves

To wreak havoc upon the city as the lightning streaks and the thunder raves.

You showed no heart and took no pity on the people whose you lives took that day.

You even sent the rain from up above as you blew their homes away.

But the human heart does not give up and with faith they will rebuild anew.

So, blow all day and blow all night and send your rain and waves too.

Because when you are but a memory man will start again

To rebuild all that he held dear before your wind and rain.

It is written that the rain falls on the just and the unjust too.

This is a fact that I have seen before and I know it’s true .

But even the heartaches that life may bring rain, fire, drought or the waves

Only serve to bring us closer to god, that’s how our soul he saves.

It is good that it is not forgotten. At one time it was Galveston, Tex it would hit. It's route is changing a bit. In Gulfport they are pettioning the Insurance Co's explaing it was the winds that came first causing the most damage. I believe this is true. lf

Katrina remembered...she might well have been another warning to our world! A fine tribute! Much prayer is indeed needed.

God Bless

Amen! A clarion call to many hearts, I'm sure. My heart was heavy within me today, too, as I recalled the devastation and loss...
I join you in your prayers, Lew.

Blessings to you, Rhonda
