Have you ever notice the movies always make it a rainy day for a funeral? Why do they characterize rain that way?
Rain is a life giving gift from God.

Poem Artwork

Not What It Seems

It has been raining for the past two days

And the rain is still pouring from the sky.

A light wind blows raindrops, causing sprays.

As I looked out my back window something caught my eye.

There is a lone flower in a giant flower pot sitting in the rain.

It is drooping its head as if it did not dare to look at the sky

However, as I watch it bending low as if in horrible pain

I am made aware that there is no pain for the flower is soaking the cool raindrops

The weight of the raindrops cause it to relax and bend its head low

The flower patiently awaits the return of sunshine once the rain stops

But for now, it simply accepts the needed rain and wind that will softly blow.

My friend, do you not see that God’s plan is even written in the rain?

The rain will nourish the plants and the sun will call to them.

With glorious rays of light creating once more its bright refrains.

Then the flower along with the birds and the trees

Will reach out to the sunshine’s warmth and light

Life is renewed for each of these

The flowers stand up tall and birds take to flight.

New life has come to all things on earth

Just as we will experience with our own rebirth.

It is all a part of God’s holy decree.

A new life for you and new life for me.

When we shed tears it's in honor of the dead. When heaven sheds tears it's in honor of the dried, parched land, unable to help itself. The flowers appear to bow their heads in honor to God for sending rain to replenish the land...Well that's my interpretation! :)

I enjoy reading what comes from your heart, Lew. Keep writing.

God Bless
Lena

I attended the funeral of a friend recently.
As you say, it was raining.
The moderator said the nicest thing...he said the rain that day were the tears of God, happy at the thought of the deceased coming home.

Nice thought.
Well done, Lew.
